So much of nature’s magic happens quietly. A squirrel finds comfort in hiding a nut. A seed waits patiently for spring. A small animal slowly finds its strength again.
In Jack and the Hidden Seeds by Brittany Petish, children meet a rescued gray squirrel whose journey from injury to recovery becomes a beautiful gift to the forest around him.
🌳 A Second Chance for Jack
After a fall caused a head injury, Jack was brought to Lucky’s Place Wildlife Rescue, where he received gentle care, nutritious food, and time to heal. While recovering, Jack did what squirrels do best—he hid nuts and seeds in all sorts of places!
As he grew stronger, Jack was eventually released back into the forest he called home.

🌱 A Surprise in the Spring
Throughout the seasons, Jack continued burying nuts and seeds. When spring arrived, some of those forgotten seeds began to sprout into tiny trees.
Without even realizing it, Jack had helped the forest grow.
