Some animals blend quietly into the world around them. Others are impossible not to notice. That was Carmine—the star of Carmine the Coyote of the Night by Brittany Petish.
With fur as dark as midnight and bright curious eyes, Carmine became known for wandering along the edges of neighborhoods at dusk—moving softly through the blue evening light while people stopped and stared. But Carmine wasn’t trying to be noticed. He was simply looking for connection.

🐾 Looking for a Friend
Carmine would watch neighborhood dogs running through yards and playing together. Sometimes he tried to join in—not to scare anyone—but simply to play. But people didn’t always understand his gentle behavior. And when wild animals are misunderstood, even kind intentions can feel frightening.

💛 A Kinder Ending
Eventually, wildlife experts began paying attention to Carmine’s story. They saw something important: Carmine wasn’t “bad.” He was simply a wild coyote trying to navigate a place that wasn’t made for him.
So instead of reacting with fear, they chose kindness. Carmine was safely relocated to a new home where he could truly be himself.
