Some stories remind us that even life’s biggest challenges can lead to something beautiful. Uno & the Way He Found Home by Brittany Petish tells the heartwarming true story of a Canada goose who found friendship, belonging, and family despite losing the ability to fly.

🪿 Meet Uno

Uno was just a young goose living at a marina when a condition called angel wing caused one of his wings to bend outward. Because his wing didn’t develop properly, flying was no longer possible.

As he spent more time alone, a woman named Jenny began to notice him. Each time she visited, Uno would waddle over to greet her. A special friendship soon began to grow.

💙 The Friend Who Stayed

When Jenny realized something was wrong with Uno’s wing, she contacted wildlife experts for guidance. Following their advice, she kept a watchful eye on him and made sure he had access to healthier food and support.

Over time, Uno healed and grew stronger. Although he would never fly like other geese, he learned to thrive right where he was.

🌿 A Gentle Wildlife Lesson

Uno’s story also teaches an important lesson about helping wild animals responsibly. Angel wing can sometimes occur when growing waterfowl don’t receive the nutrition they need. Wildlife experts, including Georgia Wildlife Network, recommend feeding birds foods that more closely match their natural diets, such as seeds, leafy greens, or waterfowl-safe feed instead of bread or crackers.

❤️ A Happy Ending

Uno’s story became even more remarkable when he found a mate of his own. Together they built a family, raising goslings at the same marina where his journey began.

Today, Uno still greets Jenny when she visits, often with his family nearby. It’s a touching reminder that kindness can make a lasting difference—and that even when life doesn’t go as planned, we can still find love, belonging, and a place to call home.
