Today’s story is “Spud,” written by Kacie Hanna and Dena O’Neill. It’s a sweet and funny tale about a little potato who just wants to stand out in the garden.
On Greenfield Farm, the vegetables come in all shapes, colors, and sizes — bright orange carrots, leafy green lettuce, snowy-white cauliflower — and right in the middle sits Spud, a plain brown potato who feels a little…ordinary.

🥔 Trying to Be Something He’s Not
Spud starts to wonder if maybe he should change to fit in. Maybe he could be long and crispy like a French fry, or crunchy and round like a potato chip! He even imagines being mashed or cheesy like au gratin potatoes. But no matter what he tries, none of those ideas feel quite right.
Then Spud realizes something wonderful — he doesn’t need to change at all. He’s perfect just the way he is! The garden wouldn’t be complete without him. 🌱
